I'm a Colorado entrepreneur, author, and tutor, and I build businesses from the ground up. I know how exciting those first steps feel, and how overwhelming they can be.
I created Harnessing Dreams to share what I've learned. You bring the dream. I do the homework and hand you a clear, honest roadmap in plain words, so you can stop guessing and start building.
Candles: My very first business was selling candles. I was the top seller and team builder in the state for 12 months in a row.
eBay: I sold successfully on eBay when it first came out, reaching over $10,000 in monthly net sales.
Pulling Together Reading: I wrote and published Pulling Together: A Phonics Reading Team, a six-book phonics series for beginning readers, and I run a private tutoring practice for children who need extra help with reading and math, especially students with dyslexia. See the books at www.pullingtogetherreading.comÂ
The Cookie Saddle: I'm launching a home bakery in Firestone, Colorado, inspired by our Clydesdales. Take a peek at www.cookiesaddlebakery.com
For each one, I did the same work I'll do for you: research the market, check the rules, set prices, build a budget, create the brand, and plan the launch.
I love helping people believe they can do hard things. It started at home, teaching my own four children to read, and it grew into tutoring reading and math, writing books, and building businesses of my own. My passion for learning and my entrepreneurial spirit are what get me up every morning.
Today I bring that same patience and encouragement to new business owners. I'll cheer you on at every step and help you build a plan as strong as your dream.
I live on our Colorado farm with Jim, my husband of 33 years, two Clydesdales, two Gypsy Vanner mares (my daughter's horses), many dogs (including a very spoiled Chiweenie), and too many chickens to count. Our four children are grown, and they were my very first team.
You may notice I don't use our horses' names here. That's because they have a bigger job! Watching my two Clydesdales pull together as a team gave me the idea for my phonics series, Pulling Together: A Phonics Reading Team. In the books, our horses and our spoiled Chiweenie help children sound out letters and words, one steady step at a time, and their names are part of the fun. So I'm saving them for the books. If you'd like to meet the herd by name, you'll find them there. Visit the shop at shop.pullingtogetherreading.com
